Where is my data stored?
Frankfurt, Germany (eu-central-2). TurtleTech ehf. is an Icelandic company operating under EU/EEA data protection law. Your data never leaves the EU unless you explicitly request it.
Is this S3-compatible?
Yes. TurtleTech DVC Storage exposes an S3-compatible endpoint. Any tool that speaks S3 works: DVC, rclone, aws-cli, boto3, the AWS SDKs. You get managed credentials that map to isolated storage – you never see the underlying infrastructure keys.
What happens if I cancel?
Your data is available for download for 30 days after cancellation. After that,
it is permanently deleted. You can export everything via dvc pull, rclone sync,
or aws s3 sync at any time during the retention period.
Can I use this without DVC?
The service is designed for DVC. If you need general-purpose S3 storage, check out our Zotero WebDAV product for reference management or custom deployments for other storage needs.
What about egress fees?
None. Zero. Ever. Download your data as many times as you want from as many machines as you want. This is a key advantage over cloud providers that charge per-GB egress.
How does billing work?
Monthly subscription billed in advance via the TurtleTech dashboard. Payment via Revolut (card or bank transfer). Invoices generated automatically.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. 7 days, no credit card required. Sign up at my.turtletech.us.
Can my whole lab use one account?
Yes. The Starter plan supports 3 concurrent users, Lab supports 10, and Institute has no limit. All users share the same storage quota. Credential management is in the dashboard.
How is this different from DagsHub?
DagsHub bundles Git hosting, experiment tracking, and data storage into one platform. TurtleTech DVC is storage-only. You keep your existing Git host (GitHub, GitLab) and experiment tracker (MLflow, W&B, Neptune). We handle the data layer at 3-6x lower cost with EU data residency.
What is the Data Processing Agreement?
TurtleTech provides a GDPR-compliant DPA for all customers. The DPA covers data processing scope, sub-processor list, breach notification procedures, and audit rights. Available at turtletech.us/legal/dpa.
